It was a big day of competition at the 2025 Krui Pro World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) 6,000, completing the remaining heats of the men's Round of 96 and eight heats of the women's Round of 64. Day 4 enjoyed three-to-four foot surf all day at Ujung Bocur, despite the tide causing a few slow heats.

Japan's Mirai Ikeda Makes Statement with Highest Heat Total of the Event

Reigning Krui Pro and Pro Junior champion Mirai Ikeda laid down a strong marker in her title defence, delivering the highest heat total of the event so far with an impressive 17.16 (out of a possible 20). Fresh off her Pro Junior win two days ago, the stylish natural-footer is eyeing another rare double-double in Krui.

"I was surprised and happy to get big scores," Ikeda said. "I love coming here, the wave seems perfectly matched to my surfing. I would love to win the QS again."

Siqi Yang, who proudly represented China at the 2024 Olympic Games, made a bold statement at only her third-ever WSL event, claiming an impressive heat win today at the Krui Pro. The powerful and progressive goofy-footer looked composed and confident in the long-running lefts of Ujung Bocur. Yang's sharp vertical turns and precise timing earned her solid scores and showcased the world-class potential she brings to the Qualifying Series. As one of the rising stars of Chinese surfing, her performance today signals that she's more than ready to compete at this level - and could be a name to watch as the event continues.

"I'm having a great time here in Krui, the waves are perfect," Yang said. "I really enjoy being at the WSL QS events, the level of surfing is inspiring and I just want to improve and surf as many heats as I can."

Both surfers were tied with a total of 14.50, but Nakashio's excellent ride earned her the win over McGonagle.

Lennix Smith, Yuji Mori Deliver Standout Performances To Advance

Lennix Smith was the standout performer in the remaining heats of the Round of 96, posting the highest two-wave total of the men's Round of 96 with 14.17 for some huge backside snaps. It was a painstakingly slow heat, and Smith had to keep a cool head as he was trailing in third. A flurry of waves arrived in the dying minutes and Smith was in the perfect position for the best waves of the heat.

New Zealand's Elliot Paerata-Reid took a commanding heat win in the Round of 96 today, holding off Harley Walters in second. Paerata-Reid has been spending a lot of time in Indonesia lately, and the experience paid off.

"It's pretty stressful with priority out there, you don't want to let the good ones go, and occasionally there are bigger ones you don't want to miss either," Paerata-Reid said."It's fun though, I haven't competed a lot lately so it's great to be back in Krui making heats."
