Works under the supervision of the Surf Ranch Executive Sous Chef and Kitchen Supervisor. The cook is responsible for assisting the culinary team on the execution and preparation of menu items, receiving and processing deliveries, cleaning, and supporting the culinary department as requested by Executive Sous Chef, Kitchen Supervisor and Hospitality management. The position is responsible for ensuring quality meals and service for Surf Ranch guests during their stay. The Cook should familiarize themselves with the guests that are coming to visit Surf Ranch and be knowledgeable of any dietary or allergy restrictions.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the kitchen facilities meeting company standards and health code regulations
- Prepare food/maintain facility in accordance with company and health code regulations

Hospitality Server staff are responsible for providing a quality guest experience by properly serving guests meals and refreshments throughout the day. Under the direct supervision of the Food & Beverage Supervisor, the Hospitality Server employee will perform various duties at the Surf Ranch facility both guest facing and non-guest facing. This includes serving meals, clearing dishes, and interacting with guests. This role also takes direction from the Cooks and Sous Chef to ensure quality of food and to communicate guest requests and food allergies to the chef.

The WSL is looking for a summer intern to join our Merchandising team! This intern will report directly into the SVP, Revenue Operations and Merchandise. This position will be located in El Segundo with travel as necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Configure Shopify inventory management system for the US Open Official Store
- Work the US Open Official Store in Huntington Beach as a member of the WSL retail team during the event window from July 23rd- August 5th.
- Train in Shopify and help manage WSLStore.com, a global ecommerce platform, with tasks to include:
- Merchandising the store site
- Assisting with advertising promotions and campaigns to drive traffic to the site
- Setting up and launching new collections on the site
- Helping with customer service tasks

The Senior Manager of Communications is a crucial role in the WSL Communications department and is responsible for focusing on and amplifying the WSL’s corporate, business, and athlete initiatives. This position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, partners, and stakeholders to develop and implement external and internal communications plans to promote key narratives and increase global awareness, with a prioritization on the US market.
This role reports directly into the VP, Global Communications. Based on business and team priorities, the successful candidate should be based in Los Angeles, California, in a hybrid working environment. This role will include three days in-office (El Segundo).
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Build global PR strategy/roadmap around the WSL’s key assets, including WSL Tours and its athletes, and WSL brand initiatives.
- Identify opportunities and pitch stories to further WSL’s key narratives and profiles in the press
- Key focus is generating press coverage through heavy pitching efforts to drive maximum awareness, particularly in the US, for mainstream media across target segments including, but not limited to: mainstream US news, sport, lifestyle, entertainment, and key thought-leaders.
- Support the Management and Leadership teams for strategies related to the brand, Tours, key programs, key events, partners, and athletes. The Ski Driver plays a strong role in keeping Surf Ranch guests safe. Under the direct supervision of the Water Safety Manager, the Ski Driver will be responsible for Surf Ranch water safety and medical aid when incidents occur. The Ski Driver will make water related decisions with the utmost regard for Surf Ranch employees and its guests. The Ski Driver must have an expert level understanding of all wave system operations as well as the ability to direct others and manage others in a team and group setting. The Ski Driver will direct all Lifeguards and Surf Coaches when any medical or water related emergency occurs.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Actively observe activities in the wave basin and facilitate a safe guest experience.
- Drive the jet ski in a safe controlled manner consistent with best RWC operator guidelines.
- Manage all employees and guests who enter the wave basin to surf, assist surfers, or to maintain the basin itself.
- Work directly with F&B Ops, Surf Guides, and other Lifeguards to ensure a timely schedule as to when guests should be in the water for their designated heat.
- Direct guests, other Lifeguards and Surf Guides when minor and/or major water and medical emergencies occur.

The Surf Coach Supervisor plays an integral role in guest safety and guest experience both in and out of the water at Surf Ranch. Under the supervision of the Surf Coach Manager, the Surf Coach Supervisor ensures the Surf Coaches day-to-day operations are executed to the standard expected by management and guests alike. This position strives to be a liaison between the guests and the Surf Coaches ensuring the day-to-day coach operations are well staffed and maintained. The Coach Supervisor and the Surf Coach Manager work closely to ensure all assessments, video review, tag administration, learn to surf, North-end operations, land-based techniques and guest satisfaction are upheld to the Surf Ranch standard.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Assist in executing on all pre-arrival information made available by Surf Team Manager so all guests are assessed according to skill level
- Ensure all Surf Coaches are properly supported and prepared
- Satisfying guest needs or issues as they pertain to the Surf Coaches
- Ensure guests are assigned ID tags and have access to their video accounts of their time at Surf Ranch
- Assist in mitigating all overtime and meal penalties
- To ensure all Surf Coach staff are attentive to all guest needs
- Assist in maintaining the daily distribution and collection of ID tags
- Ensure the Coaches have all necessary information to successfully host the days group
- Manage the schedule of the Surf Coach Team with the Coach Manager
- Manage the ordering and upkeep of all surf coach equipment
- Ensure that bookings for each group is done daily so that guests may access their snapshot accounts
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the Surfranchsnapshot website, including the ability to train coaches on how to create and manage guest accounts, distribute tags, and provide essential support during site downtime to ensure continued operations
- Ensure all coach notes are current and accurately updated for each guest-related profile
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of creating profiles, managing new cuts, and conducting daily checks on the DMS system to ensure smooth functionality during guest operations
- Ability to conduct year-round training for coaches on role-specific skills, including in water wave assistance and the latest coaching techniques

The Surf Team Supervisor and the Surf Team Lead work closely to ensure all equipment, labor budgets, and guest satisfaction are upheld to the Surf Ranch standard.

Surf RanchWater Safety SupervisorWave Co. Lemoore
The Water Safety Supervisor plays a strong role in keeping Surf Ranch guests safe. Under the direct supervision of the Water Safety Manager, the Water Safety Supervisor works closely with the Water Safety Manager to ensure a safe workplace, safe experience for all guests, and will be responsible for Surf Ranch water safety and medical aid when incidents occur. The Supervisor will oversee all Water Safety employees and will make water related decisions with the utmost regard for Surf Ranch employees and its guests. The Supervisor must have an expert level understanding of all wave system operations as well as the ability to direct others and manage others in a team and group setting. The Supervisor will direct all Lifeguards and Surf Coaches when any medical or water related emergency occurs.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Actively observe activities in the wave basin and facilitate a safe guest experience.
- Manage all employees and guests who enter the wave basin to surf, assist surfers, or to maintain the basin itself.
- Work directly with Hospitality, Surf Guides, and other Lifeguards to ensure a timely schedule as to when guests should be in the water for their designated heat.
- Direct guests, other Lifeguards and Surf Guides when minor and/or major water and medical emergencies occur.
- Complete detailed reports for all incidents that require lifeguard contact.
- Maintain training requirements.
- Maintain the general upkeep of Surf Ranch facilities including boat ramp and lifeguard towers.
- Ensure all activities & operations are conducted in accordance with established procedures and policies.
- Clearly communicate between, water safety, control tower, and jet ski operator.
- Activate the 911 system should a guest need care from paramedics and/or fire rescue.
- Responsible for a thorough safety briefing if the Water Safety Manager is unavailable.
- Oversee all Lifeguards and RWC Operators.
- Day to day operations while on-site.
- Maintain communication with the Water Safety team, and keep the team informed and updated with happenings at The Property.
- Maintain all rescue equipment
- Assist in the maintenance of the RWC fleet.
- Keep inventory of medical supplies and recommend purchases to the Water Safety Manager.
- Maintain a relationship with local medical providers.
- Maintain relationship with local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Fire Departments
- Assist with safety plans for all large events.
- Assist and lead all water-based safety and lifeguard training.
- Annual beginning of the year training and refreshers are required for all water based staff.
- Assist in coordinating all EMS training for staff.
- Deliver records to the Water Safety Manager, in particular Patient Care Reports.
- Assist in tracking the Water Safety Budget.
- Attend weekly meetings with Surf Team and Hospitality management.
- Develop plans to support other teams’ and departments’ requests as needed.
- Provide the highest level of guest care possible.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance team for both scheduled and unscheduled downtime to minimize impact on guests.
- Stay on the forefront of surfing knowledge to maintain program authenticity.
- Thorough understanding of Water Safety Handbook.
Experience and Qualifications
- 4+ years previous experience as ocean lifeguard
- USLA Lifeguard Certification
- EMT certification
- Wave Runner (PWC) rescue experience and training
- 2+ Years managing lifeguard operations
