Hawaiʻi/Tahiti Nui's longboard contingents are set to converge at the iconic lineup of Ala Moana Bowls on Monday, June 9. With the one-day marathon event running, only two will emerge victorious and determine who qualifies for the 2025 WSL Longboard Tour.
Here's a glimpse of who is looking to add their name to the Local Motion Surf Into Summer legacy.

Kai Sallas
2023 WSL Longboard Champion and Local Motion Surf Into Summer victor, and 2024 World Longboard Title runner-up, Kai Sallas enters the Ala Moana Bowls arena ranked No. 1 after his win at Haleʻiwa. The WSL Longboard Tour veteran continues to lead by his world-class style and overall class in and out of the water as he continues to help push and mentor rising South Shore talents.
Now, Sallas looks to add a second WSL Longboard Longboard Regional victory to his name.

Sophia Culhane
Since coming onto the WSL Longboard scene, Sophia Culhane proved she was one to watch. Winning both the Surfing For Longboard Classic and Local Motion Surf Into Summer in 2023, Culhane has become a mainstay on the Tour. The now 19-year-old finished No. 8 in the world last season to stay among the world's best and looks to hone in ahead of the 2025 season.

Sive Jarrard
A masterful performance at Haleʻiwa earned Sive Jarrard her maiden WSL victory and now she looks to fend off the field to hold her WSL Longboard Tour requalification spot. Jarrard's runner-up at this event in 2024 earned her a place onto the Tour last season with more Ala Moana Bowls success in her sights.
Nelson Ahina III
A former WSL Longboard Tour elite contender, Nelson Ahina III returned to competition in phenomenal form at The Hawaiian Islands HIC Haleiwa Pro. With a runner-up, Ahina III is currently qualified for the 2025 WSL Longboard Tour behind Sallas, who is already qualified via his No. 2 finish in 2024, but has a formidable field ready to take over that spot.

John Michael Van Hohenstein
2024 marked a breakthrough year for emerging WSL Longboard Tour contender John Michael Van Hohenstein. The 21-year-old took the Tour by storm to finish No. 3 on the rankings, falling to Sallas in Match 4 of the Surf City El Salvador Longboard Championships. Now, Van Hohenstein is back at Ala Moana Bowls where he finished third in 2023 that initally helped him qualify for the WSL Longboard Tour.
