We are deeply saddened by the passing of Clyde Aikau, a legendary Hawaiian waterman, beloved brother, father, husband, and a guiding light in the surfing world.

Clyde's life was defined by his devotion to family, community, and the ocean. He carried his brother Eddie's legacy with unwavering commitment, while building one of his own, through a lifetime of service, strength, and Aloha. From lifeguarding Waimea to winning the first Eddie Aikau Invitational when it was moved from Sunset to Waimea in 1986, and continuing to steward the event with grace, Clyde was a true pillar of Hawaiian culture and big wave surfing.

Our thoughts are with the Aikau family and the Hawaiian surfing community during this time.
